At ANŪT Cairo, craftsmanship is inseparable from learning and community. We run a free embroidery school in our neighbourhood - a low-income housing district - where many women arrive having never stitched before. After a month of training they can already begin earning from simpler pieces; after three months they’re ready for more intricate work and can embroider from home to fit family responsibilities. The Lotus Trail Bolster is hand-embroidered using a classic couching stitch: a guiding thread is laid across the surface, then carefully secured with tiny stitches in a contrasting colour, forming sinuous lotus paths. Designed and stitched in Cairo, each bolster carries the maker’s hand in subtle variations. By weaving design, heritage, craftsmanship, and community together, we create pieces made to last that tell stories and elevate a simple cushion cover into a small work of art.
